Travel Challenge: the street markets of Tai O, Hong Kong
Today’s post comes courtesy of Ailsa and her weekly photo challenge. This week’s challenge? Street markets! These photos were taken during our anniversary trip to Hong Kong last October. Tai O is a village in Lantau Island, an island that is also home to Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong Disneyland, and the Po Lin...
Meet Manila’s launch: a tertulia under the stars
Despite the power outage and the slight drizzle, Meet Manila’s launch party entitled “A Tertulia Night” held last May 23 in Adarna Food and Culture Restaurant was a success and definitely something that I was glad to attend. What is Meet Manila? From their website: It is a non-profit informational site whose core focus is...
Book reviews: “Touch of Frost” and “Kiss of Frost” by Jennifer Estep
I’m not a fan of the young adult paranormal romance genre but I decided to give Jennifer Estep’s Mythos Academy series a try because 1) someone lent it to me, 2) I was bored, and 3) I wanted something light and fast to read. The official series description: Gwen Frost is an outsider at Mythos...
I’m going home!
I love El Nido. I do. But that doesn’t change the fact that almost all of my friends and family are back in Manila. After three weeks on the island, I’m finally going home again. My posts for the next 10 days will be coming from the city. I can’t wait!
Smile for the camera!
The best thing about diving in El Nido is seeing the amazing?underwater life. The next best thing? Having your picture taken
Book review: “The Serpent’s Shadow” by Rick Riordan
Finally! We have the The Serpent’s Shadow – the 3rd (but not final?) book in the Kane Chronicles series by Rick Riordan (he of Percy Jackson fame). The official synopsis: He’s b-a-a-ack! Despite their best efforts, Carter and Sadie Kane can’t seem to keep Apophis, the Chaos snake, down. Now Apophis is threatening to plunge the world...
Leave no footprints behind
Funny how the waves continuously wash your footprints away, leaving no trace that you were ever there. This is my summer. Shot on the beach of Dilumacad Island in El Nido, Palawan and edited with Snapseed. Entered in Ailsa’s Summer photography challenge. In the Philippines, it’s summer for half the year!
Your early morning voyages
Once you’re in El Nido, I highly recommend getting up at sunrise and kayaking to the Big Lagoon. It’s a great way to jumpstart your morning. Just remember to turn in early the night before! P.S. This photo was edited using Snapseed. I am having so much fun with it!
There’s something about Miniloc
I wonder what it is? The sunshine? The crystal-clear water? The towering limestone cliffs? The extraordinary critters under the water’s surface? Personally, I think it’s the people I work with. I miss the ones who have left the island
Kindle wallpapers : Hawkeye, Black Widow (“The Avengers” movie)
So I’m still coming off my Avengers high despite seeing the movie three weeks ago. IT WAS THAT GOOD. Those who know me (or read my movie review) know that my favorite actor in the movie was Jeremy Renner (and I got to say hi to him and have my photo taken with him when...
Sunset over Pangulasian
We’re gearing up to open a new resort by October! I got to visit the almost-finished property during the team building activities yesterday and it is just gorgeous. Wow. Can’t wait to see it finally up and running. In the meantime, we got to enjoy the fantastic view of the sunset that Pangulasian offers.
